Japanese time again🇯🇵! If you are new to my blog – every Tue I have Japanese notes from my class (I am a beginner so it’s basic grammatical points) so make sure you follow my blog if you are also learning🙈!
So this week is adjective past tense (for present tense please click here🐥) .
Past tense is used to describe something happened in the past (OK this is obvious…🐽). There are 2 rules for transformation, fairly easy to remember –
- for ‘な’ adjectives + question form – it’s treated like a noun. So in short: です -> でした for both positive and negative forms.
- for ‘い’ adjectives – it requires a bit efforts to memorise and get used to – drop ‘い’ and append ‘かった’ for both positive and negative.
As said, the rules are really easy to remember, no irregular forms, no exceptions.🌟👏 What I am struggling is how to respond spontaneously when talking. My stupid mind always needs to take time and process above rules and makes my sentence sounds really broken. The only way to overcome it is to speak more I guess.😿
So to put it in practice, if I do a small summary of my day today:
ごぜん いろいろなかいぎをしました。いそがしかったです😾。ひるごはんは やさいをたべました🥗。おいしくなかったですが よかったです。それから チョコレート🍫のみせを いきました。とてもふくざつでした。
Now I hope it makes sense😸. To clarify the chocolate shop bit… there is actually a KitKat ‘made to order’ shop at Melbourne central and I made a video on them making chocolates. That’s why I said it’s complicated and Vlog coming soon on experience at the KitKat shop! Stay tuned😽❤️
