While I was not expecting any gifts for Xmas and New Year (as we don’t celebrate it), we purchased a pair of Bose headphone from Xmas sale. ⁄(⁄ ⁄ ⁄ω⁄ ⁄ ⁄)⁄ This pair of Bose SoundTrue® Ultra in-ear headphones was originally at 179 AUD and I bought it at 134.95 AUD, which is about 25% off. After using it for 2 weeks now here are some of my feedback of the device. I won’t include the stuff which you can find from website such as parameters or compatibility; this article is more from user experience point of view.
First of all it’s an in-ear device, and a quite comfortable one. Personally I am not a big fan of in-ear headphones as they all tend to hurt my ear. This headphone comes with 3 sizes of in-ear parts. Whether you can or cannot tell from below picture, there is quite obvious difference in sizes from S to L. I am using S, and they never made me feel uncomfortable.
From left to right: S, M, L
A small side effect of picking up the smallest size is that the moon shape hook doesn’t fit so well. Ideally it should look like below. Mine only go 3/4 way… but functionally there is zero impact; I don’t even know why it needs to be designed like this. Maybe just for peace of mind that there is a hook and won’t fall out during exercise. (((o(*ﾟ▽ﾟ*)o))) For that purpose the headphone locks into ears very well and it doesn’t fall out even without the hook.
Sound-wise the headphone works very well. I’ve seen some comments that it’s not loud enough; I switched from another headphone to this one and didn’t observe any difference in volume. I play lot of music game (LoveLive as you can read from my other posts) and makes at least 3-4 hours’ calls everyday in my work. It gives clear sound from both music and calls.
It also has very good noise cancellation feature (even it costs only 135 AUD and a true noise cancellation one costs 300+ AUD). If I am wearing a headphone and listen to music, I am exempted from the people making calls next to me. I haven’t tried the real noise cancellation one but for daily use this level of cancellation suffices. While it frees you from all disturbance, there is a downside. As it blocks the sound out so well, when making phone calls, I cannot hear my own voice. This makes it very hard for me to control my volume talking (because I cannot hear myself). One solution is that I always talk with one ear free from headphone – this helps me be aware of my voice and surroundings when I talk and walk.
All in all it’s a good product for me and worth the price. I’d hope that it can last long as most of my headphones breaks in couple of months; it looks pretty tough and durable though.
Unboxing picture – the package is nice.
